John Hinkel Park Tree Planting

Help us plant trees as part of our effort to grow the native tree canopy in John Hinkel Park.

Connect with nature and community at our tree planting event in John Hinkel Park. The City of Berkeley plans to eventually plant 40 new trees (30 coast live oak and 10 California buckeyes) to add to the large growing native canopy and habitat to this open space park.

We plan to dig holes, play with tree roots, plant trees, and install support stakes. Feel free to come join with your moral support for growing the urban forest or play in the soil, planting trees with our Urban Forestry team. To join the planting, please wear closed-toed footwear and clothing ready to get a bit dirty. We will supply all tools.
