Explore benefits of electric cars and eBikes
Berkeley, California (Monday, September 27, 2021) - Come test drive new and used electric and plug-in hybrid cars as well as learn about eBikes at a Oct. 2 event highlighting the benefits of zero-emission transportation.
You can also learn about credits, rebates, grant and loans that help lower the cost when buying an electric car. Meet people who already own one and ask them about their experiences.
The event will also include resources for accessing clean electricity for your vehicle or bike through discounted rooftop solar programs offered by Bay Area SunShares and East Bay Community Energy Resilient Home.
Today's electric vehicles (EVs) offer significant range, options for a wide range of budgets, and the convenience of charging at home, work, or on the road.

The fourth annual downtown Berkeley event will give the curious a chance to explore vehicles that have a big environmental, economic and political impact, reducing carbon emissions and dependence on foreign oil.
Rebates, tax credits make electric vehicles more affordable
Federal tax credits and rebates from the State of California and utilities make EVs and plug-in hybrids more affordable to purchase or lease. For income-qualified drivers, various programs can reduce the costs of buying or leasing even more, through grants, financing, and help with installing home charging stations.
State incentives for eBikes are coming soon. eBikes can provide a boost for hilly or long commutes as well as recreational rides. They also help drivers get out of their cars and start pedaling. eBikes can help you climb longer, adventure farther, or just get there a bit faster without a sweat.

Berkeley's October 2 Ride Electric event is supported by our neighboring cities and community choice energy providers in Alameda and Contra Costa counties, and is co-hosted by Charge Across Town and the Ecology Center. Join us at the Farmers' Market to explore and better understand how electric cars and eBikes work and can help you save money, improve your commute, and protect our environment.
Transportation is the largest source of greenhouse gases locally, statewide, and nationally. Reducing the carbon impact of vehicles primarily requires reducing car trips, which Berkeley supports through a variety of strategies, including improving access to transit with programs like bike share, eMoped share, and vehicle share. For those who have to drive, EVs, with zero tailpipe emissions, help our climate and improve local air quality.
Come out to the Oct. 2 downtown Berkeley Farmer's Market and learn about electric bikes and vehicles. Someday, you may be riding on or in one.
