Suspects fired a gun at a resident during a catalytic converter theft in the North Berkeley hills.

This morning, a resident woke up to the sounds of sawing outside of his residence in the area of Oak Street and Glen Avenue. The resident walked outside to find at least two suspects in the process of cutting off the catalytic converter of his neighbor’s vehicle.
After calling 911, the resident yelled to the suspects to stop and that the police were on their way. One of the suspects turned towards the resident and fired multiple gunshots. Thankfully no one was injured by the gunfire.
This incident is a definite reminder that the people who commit crimes like these may be armed and willing to commit violence. If you witness an in-progress crime, do not hesitate to dial 911 and remain in the safest place available.
