Tree Planting Event at Aquatic Park South End

Come join the City's PRW department and the Urban Forestry Unit to plant a batch of new trees and shrubs at Aquatic Park.

Our goal for the day is to plant ~50 new trees, shrubs, and native plants on the southern end of Aquatic Park. We will be working along West Bolivar Drive from the South Lot to the western edge near the interstate fence. These new trees will help to replace some past lost tree canopy and add new green areas in the park. 

Please dress for outdoor work, including long pants and closed-toe shoes that can handle working in the very wet grass, soil, and a bit of mud. Be prepared for any weather that could occur, including a strong Bay breeze and cooler temperatures than the rest of Berkeley. 

You may also bring your favorite shovel and work gloves, but we will also have all tools needed and work gloves will be available. Restrooms and water stations are available at the park.  

Schedule

• 9:00 am: Work starts! As people show up, we will do a quick check-in and form into groups. 
• 9:00 am - 11:00 am: Plant trees, make friends, try hard, and have fun! 
• 11:00 am: Wrap up. Drop off tools and enjoy your day.

Parking: Multiple parking spaces are available in the nearby parking lot. Staff will direct cars to park in overflow parking if needed. 

Cycling: Bike racks will be available for bike parking near the event.
