Supplemental Veterinary Services for Berkeley Animal Care Services

The City of Berkeley City Manager’s Office seeks competitive written proposals for Supplemental Veterinary Services for Berkeley Animal Care Services.

The work to be done includes:

• Contractor shall provide supplemental veterinary services for animals in the care of Berkeley Animal Care Services (BACS) when necessary diagnostic testing or treatment cannot be provided in-house due to equipment, staffing, or treatment limitations.
• Services will be provided on an as-needed basis. BACS anticipates utilizing the Contractor's services no more than a few times per month.
• Contractor should provide pricing for the services listed below. Pricing should identify the cost for each service where possible. A general price range may be provided for dentistry, as individual cases may require a separate estimate.

SERVICES AND PRICING REQUESTED

• Radiographs
  • Sedation for radiographs
  • Radiograph review/interpretation
• Ultrasound
• Day hospitalization
  • With fluids
  • With IV antibiotics and/or pain medications
• Dentistry
  • General price range
• Urgent care examination
  • Examination of stable animals requiring veterinary evaluation on a day when BACS does not have an in-house veterinarian available. Cases may include suspected abuse victims, animals suspected of being hit by a vehicle, fight wounds, or similar injuries or medical concerns that may require treatment.

Instructions to vendors:

On company letterhead, submit a signed, firm, lump sum proposal to accomplish the project described in the quote. Total cost of all services shall not exceed $50,000.   Term of performance shall not exceed 12 months.
