Take a deep dive into the first steps that will help prepare you and your family to handle any disaster in the Bay Area and Berkeley.
CERT training prepares you to support professional responders during disasters, and gives you hands-on practice to strengthen your skills and improve response plans. You will learn:
- Successful fire prevention strategies, like when and how to turn off utilities
- Proper operation of portable fire extinguishers and learn the correct way to extinguish fires
- How to classify a fire and identify potentially dangerous materials
This is the first class in a seven-unit series. Each class will give you hands-on experience in dealing with disasters that can impact Berkeley. Learn more about Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and follow our Eventbrite page to receive updates for new classes.
