Come join the Green Pocket Forests group and the City of Berkeley Urban Forestry Unit to plant a new Miyawaki Forest in South Berkeley.
Note: this event will take place the same time as another City-hosted tree planting event at San Pablo Park.
We have been working hard to prepare this site to grow a small but mighty pocket forest.
The Miyawaki Method uses dense planting of native species to establish fast-growing urban micro-forests with high survival rates and low water demand. The method improves biodiversity, reduces heat, and restores ecological function in small urban spaces.
