Drop-in appointments at Buchanan Street starting on May 7

Berkeley, California (Thursday, May 06, 2021) - Spread the word: from 9am to 5pm every Tuesday through Saturday, you can now drop-in any time without an appointment at our mass vaccination site near the North Berkeley border and get a shot.

Drop-ins start Friday May 7.

Tell people they can come to this site - located at 1 Buchanan St. in Albany - by car, bus, bike or get dropped off by ride share. It doesn't matter where they live or work. We'll vaccinate anyone that meets the age minimums for the particular vaccine: at least 16- or 18-years-old for Pfizer and Moderna, respectively.

Let friends know they can come at the last minute -- and also bring neighbors, family, or co-workers. With more than enough supply and half the eligible population in Berkeley now fully vaccinated, we want to make sure that everyone knows there's a shot available for them.

Those who are 16- or 17-years-old should come with a parent or guardian on May 7, 13, 14 and 15.

Appointments at the City site are listed through May 8. Appointments through May 15 will be posted Friday morning. To book your spot at the City's site:

1. Complete the eligibility information on the MyTurn homepage. This will bring you to a new page listing available appointments at several nearby locations.
2. Scroll down and select "Buchanan St. Parking Lot (next to Albany Bulb)." Note: there are separate links for the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.
3. After scheduling, you will receive a confirmation email with the date and time of your appointment. We will verify appointments with identification at the site. You will not be asked about immigration status.

COVID-19 vaccines are free to everyone. You do not need insurance to get a vaccine. However, those who have medical insurance will need to provide their insurance information.

For phone assistance, you can call the CA COVID-19 hotline at (833) 422-4255, which has translators available to support 250 languages.
