Berkeley, California (Monday, November 9, 2020) - On November 8th at about 12:58 am, officers were driving in the area of Alcatraz Avenue and 67th Street when they heard the sounds of a vehicle’s tires screeching—“burning-out.” When officers went to investigate, they spotted a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed (about 50 mph) with its headlights out.
While the officers were trying to catch-up with the vehicle on Alcatraz Avenue, the vehicle turned onto Salem Court (a dead end street). With nowhere else to drive, the driver ran off on foot. Officers searched the area for the suspect, but were unable to find him.
The stolen vehicle was later returned to its owner in Berkeley.
