On various Friday evenings through September, enjoy outdoor movies as a community in Berkeley parks. Family movies include animation, live-action.
Come out to Berkeley parks – and even one of our pools – on Friday evenings scattered through the summer to watch movies alongside Berkeleyans of all ages.
The free movie series runs through September and makes stops in neighborhood parks across Berkeley, stretching from the flats to the hills, from south to north.
The series mostly features animated films, including Moana 2, The Wild Robot, Cars 3, Finding Dory, Despicable Me 4, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and Inside Out 2. There is also one live-action film – Wicked. One feature – If – combines both styles.
You’ll see the movies on a large 20-foot by 12-foot inflatable movie screen with premium audio-visual equipment designed for outdoor cinema.
Bring your friends, gather with neighbors, and enjoy one of Berkeley’s treasures—our parks—at these movie nights under the stars.

Plan ahead for a smooth movie night experience
To request captions, contact Joaquim Lee at least two days before the movie by emailing jolee@berkeleyca.gov or calling or texting (510) 926-1458.
Plan to arrive early and get comfortable. We recommend showing up at least 30 minutes before showtime to find your spot and settle in. Street parking is limited, so try walking, biking, carpooling, or using public transit. Shared bikes and scooters are also a convenient way to get there. If you drive, please keep driveways clear.
Pack for comfort. Bring blankets, sleeping bags, or low beach chairs (with seats no higher than 9 inches off the ground) so everyone can enjoy an unobstructed view. Don’t forget a flashlight or headlamp to help you navigate after the movie ends.
Dogs are welcome on leash. Please remember that alcohol is not allowed at these events.
Movies in the Parks are just one of a variety of free events throughout the year organized by the City's Parks, Recreation, and Waterfront Department, which offers camps, classes, and activities designed to include a variety of age groups and backgrounds.
