Berkeley, California (Thursday, September 30, 2021) - On September 24th, at 9:37 pm, officers responded to the 2700 block of Acton Street on a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a woman in her 20’s who had been struck by gunfire—shattering her elbow.
After some additional investigation, officers learned that shooting occurred during a domestic violence dispute with the victim’s domestic partner. Shortly thereafter, detectives obtained a warrant for the arrest of the suspect.
On September 28th, the suspect was arrested and admitted to the shooting, and enlisting a family member to hide the handgun after the shooting.
On September 30th, the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office charged the suspect (a 21-year-old Oakland woman) with PC 273.5—Domestic Violence, PC 245(a)(2)—Assault with a deadly weapon as well as several criminal enhancements.
