On the evening of January 8th, three men were arrested after they were found in possession of a quantity of controlled substances.
On January 8th at 7:04 pm, an officer had just walked out of REI after handling a shoplifting report (the fourth one of the day). As the officer returned to his patrol vehicle, the officer saw two men walk from their vehicle to the store who seemed particularly preoccupied by the officer’s presence.
When the officer conducted a records check of the parked vehicle, the officer discovered that owner of the vehicle had a suspended Driver’s License and should not have been driving. When the officer walked over to the vehicle, the officer could see a glass pipe and a torch style lighter (commonly used to smoke drugs).
While shining his flashlight inside the station wagon, a man (a 43-year-old Folsom man) emerged from the backseat. While speaking with the man in the backseat, the other two men (a 38-year-old Placerville man and a 41-year-old Carmichael man) walked out of the store. Despite carrying brand new items from inside the store, neither of the men appeared to have gone by the store’s registers.
After detaining all three men, officers searched the vehicle and found heroin, fentanyl, approximately 10 ounces of cocaine, two digital scales, and about $6,900 cash.
Officers arrested two of the men (a 38-year-old Placerville man and a 43-year-old Folsom man) on suspicion of drug related charges. Officers also arrested two of the men on suspicion of theft (a 38-year-old Placerville man and a 41-year-old Carmichael man).
