Berkeley, California (Wednesday, December 2, 2020) - On November 26th at about 12:25 am, officers performed a traffic enforcement stop on a car in the area of Adeline Street and MLK Jr Way.
When the officer contacted the driver, the officer learned that the driver’s License had previously been suspended.
When officers searched the vehicle, they discovered 14 Xanax pills, over 9 grams cocaine, 4 Percocet pills and over $300 cash. When officers searched the driver, they discovered over 28 grams of cocaine in his pockets.
When officers brought the driver to the jail for booking, officers warned the driver that bringing narcotics into the jail would be a felony offense. Warnings unheeded, the driver still walked into the jail—where jail staff discovered that he had an additional 7+ grams of cocaine hidden in his underclothing.
The driver (a 23-year-old Berkeley man) was arrested on suspicion of possessing narcotics for sale and bringing narcotics into a jail or prison.
