Berkeley, California (Friday, July 17, 2020) - On July 13th, shortly before 6 pm, a group of suspects vandalized the City of Berkeley Public Safety building by spray painting the exterior walls and windows. In addition to this, suspects also vandalized a nearby statue and a parked vehicle. During the initial investigation, officers believed there were only three suspects. Since that time, detectives have reviewed information sent to us from the community as well as the building’s video surveillance recordings and we now believe there were at least five suspects who committed the vandalism. As we believe three of the suspects depicted in the video surveillance and photographs are under the age of 18, we are unable to make those photos public (see below written descriptions).
- Suspect #1—white female teen, with a thin build, blond hair in a ponytail, wearing a light blue mask, a black tank top and black pants
- Suspect #2—white female teen, with a thin build, black hair in a ponytail, wearing a yellow bandana face covering, black top and black pants
- Suspect #3—white female teen, with medium build, long brown hair, wearing a black shirt and black shorts.
We are able to share with the public photographs of the two suspects below.
