The Live Oak Community Center is a hub for recreational activities and events for all ages. We provide a variety of programs, including City-run classes at affordable prices and unique specialty classes offered by outside vendors, giving participants plenty of options to choose from.
In addition to our programs, we offer space for community members to reserve for private events. Our amenities include a Social Hall, arts and crafts room, community room, kitchen, and outdoor picnic and recreational areas.
Amenities include:
- Evergreen Room – Ideal for large gatherings and events (seats up to 467)
- Fireside Room – Perfect for smaller workshops or intimate activities (up to 67 people)
- Creekside Room – A versatile community room, great for meetings or medium-sized events (up to 52 people)
- Kitchen with a commercial stove
The adjacent Live Oak Park features outdoor picnic and recreational areas, two tennis courts, two outdoor basketball courts, a court with volleyball net attachments, and multiple field areas.
In addition to these amenities, Live Oak Community Center is conveniently located about a mile from Downtown or North Berkeley BART stations. By bus, take AC Transit #52 or use AC Transit's route planner.
Our facilities are accessible, ensuring that everyone in our community can enjoy the diverse recreational opportunities we offer. Additionally, the center serves as one of Berkeley’s designated Care and Shelter facilities.
Classes for Families, Youth, and Adults
We offer a wide variety of programs for all ages, creating opportunities for learning and connection through fun, engaging experiences. There's something for everyone, fostering personal growth and community connection.
Youth can explore activities like STEM workshops, soccer, art, and sports, while adults can enjoy options such as Aikido, Yoga, and Zumba. Families can also bring their puppies for training or attend classes together, like yoga.
Drop In Programs
You can join our drop-in classes without any long-term commitment. Just show up, pay on your phone, and enjoy the session without worrying about attending every week. These classes offer flexibility and fun for all ages, making it easy to stay active and engaged in your community.
For instance, you might find a fun dance workout, or a yoga class designed to promote stretching and relaxation. For your little ones, you might find martial arts classes to develop balance and coordination.

Apply for scholarships
Low-income Berkeley residents of all ages can apply for recreation program scholarships to cover 50% or 100% of fees for many programs. Apply online today; space is limited. Approved applicants are enrolled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Rental Information
