Martin Luther King Jr. Civic Center Park, landmarked in 1997 as well as the site of many Berkeley festivals and special events, offers a large lawn for sitting and picnicking along with many special features.

Martin Luther King Jr. Civic Center Park is a gathering space in downtown Berkeley, located next to City Hall and a short walk from the Downtown Berkeley BART station. The park includes open lawns, historic landmarks, and areas for community events.
A large grassy area can be used for picnicking or hosting gatherings. The upper plaza contains a historic fountain, flagstone terrace, landscaped seating, accessible pathways, and the World Wall of Peace, an installation made with tiles created by community members.
Restrooms are open during the Saturday farmers’ market, with a portable toilet available year-round at the southwest corner. Dogs are allowed on leash. A wall on the west side of the park is designated for skateboarding.
