Permits Online
Apply for your building permits through the City of Berkeley’s online portal. Once you have submitted your application, you can track it online, upload additional documents, and schedule inspections.
Submit building permit applications online
To apply online:
- Login or register for an account at Permits Online
- Under Building Permits, select “Generate Request” and agree to the terms.
- Choose ‘Building Permit’ or ‘Minor Permit’ according to the project scope.
- Upload plans and other submittal documents as PDF file types, and submit application.
You will need to submit plans for all building permits, except minor permits.
Track permit status, upload documents, or schedule inspections online
Access your processed permit application through the Permits Online portal, to track plan review status, upload additional documents, or schedule inspections.
To access permit records online:
- Login or register for an account at Permits Online
- Search for and select the permit record
- Select Record Info > Attachments to "Add" documents for processing, or to download approved permit documents and plans.
- Select Record Info > Inspections to schedule inspections.
