The City of Berkeley is soliciting invitations for bid (IFB) for the Santa Fe Trackbed to Park Conversion New Community Gardens, Dog Park, and Playground project. The Work includes, without limitation, new community gardens, separate dog park, kid’s playground and tot cycle track, picnic areas, outdoor fitness stations, ADA pathways and plazas, landscaping, irrigation, lighting, drinking fountains, fences, gates, and other ancillary work.
California Contractor License required: Class A - General Engineering Contractor
Engineer’s Estimate: $3,224,500
The specifications and selection process are summarized in this invitation for bid (IFB). Bids must be received no later than 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 11, 2026. All responses must be in a sealed envelope and have “Santa Fe Trackbed to Park Conversion New Community Gardens, Dog Park, and Playground” and “Specification No. 26-11757-C” clearly marked on the outer most mailing envelope. No bids will be accepted after the date and time stated above. Submittal of Response by fax is NOT acceptable. Incomplete bids and bids which do not conform to the requirements specified herein, will not be considered. Issuance of the IFB does not obligate the City to award a contract, nor is the City liable for any costs incurred by the bidder in the preparation and submittal of bids for the subject work. The City retains theright to award all or parts of this contract to several bidders, to not select any bidders, and/or to re-solicit bids. The act of submitting a bid is a declaration that the bidder has read the IFB and understands all the requirements and conditions.
OPTIONAL SITE VISIT
City will conduct an Optional Pre-Bid Site Visit at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. The location for the site visit is the southernmost block at 0 Ward Street at Sojourner Truth Court, between Acton Street and Sacramento Street. The location of work is fenced, locked, and not open to the public during normal business or daylight hours, limiting access to review the site independently. It is highly recommended that potential bidders visit the site to review site conditions prior to bid. Answers to any questions during the site visit will be provided as an official response in the addenda and posted to the City of Berkeley’s Bid & Proposal Opportunities webpage.
