K Dock Restroom Renovation

The restroom at K-Dock is a highly used and conveniently located public restroom at the hub of the Marina. It serves Marina Office visitors, slip holders and Marina guests, and dock users accessing the charter fishing and small-scale ferry boats at the popular K-Dock, particularly during fishing season.

This project will enhance security, improve the interior space of the restroom with new energy and water efficient fixtures while meeting the latest American with Disability Act (ADA) standards. The renovated restroom will make Marina visitors feel comfortable visiting K-Dock and other nearby attractions at the City of Berkeley Marina and Waterfront. 

The K-Dock Restroom Renovation Project will create an all gender restroom open to public  and another separate all gender restroom for City of Berkeley Marina slip holders. Both restrooms will have multiple self-contained fully wall-enclosed single occupant water closets. The new public restroom will have two sinks and three water closets. The new slip holders restroom will have a sink, two water closets, and a single occupancy shower room with sink, shower, and water closet. New mechanical ventilation will be installed in both restrooms. A new water bottle filling station will be installed on the exterior as well as new security upgrades for the slip holders restroom. 

The K-Dock Restroom Renovation Project has completed the design phase with full permitting from City of Berkeley Planning Department and the San Francisco Bay Area Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC) . A community outreach meeting was held in 2024. The K-Dock Restroom Renovation Project has started construction as of March 2026 and is anticipated to be complete by the end September 2026.
