Live Oak Community Center Renovation and Seismic Upgrade

The Live Oak Community Center was identified as a care and shelter facility for the City of Berkeley as part of the City’s goals for Disaster Preparedness and to become a more resilient city.  A seismic structural upgrade was necessary in order to prevent major damage to the building, to achieve an “immediate occupancy” rating in the event of an earthquake or other major disaster. 

Other upgrades for energy efficiency and sustainability were included to come closer to meeting the City’s climate action plan and resiliency goals.  The project also included necessary upgrades to increase accessibility at the site to meet new and current building codes.
