PROJECT LOCATION
1500-1900 Blocks of Hearst Avenue, between Sacramento Street and Milvia Street
WHAT'S HAPPENING
This is a Measure T1 Phase 2 project.
Proposed improvements include lighting improvements, installation of a permanent pre-fab restroom, and various site related improvements.
The new permanent restroom opened to the public on January 8, 2026 and features the following:
- Two, gender neutral stalls with electric hand dryers
- Rooftop solar panels
- Drinking fountain with a bottle filling station
- Auto timed locks to set operation hours to park hours
Lighting improvements across the park include:
- Seven new dark sky compliant lights along the main pathway between Sacramento Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way
- Three new bollard lights at the Grant Street dog park entrance
- Four new mounted floodlights to shed light on the main pathway when the basketball court lights are not in use
- Replacement of the existing high-pressure sodium basketball court light fixtures with new dark sky compliant LED fixtures
*Energization of the pathway lights near the Ohlone Park Exercise Station, MLK Jr. Way, and the new bollard lights by the dog park entrance is awaiting PG&E’s availability to complete the necessary electrical service connections.
