PROJECT LOCATION
The South Cove ADA Gangway Float is connected to the middle public dock within the South Cove Sailing Basin. It is located in front of Cal Adventures.
WHAT'S HAPPENING
The ADA gangway float showed signs of deterioration in early 2024, and on-site repairs were made in March 2024 to add welds and additional framing. Despite those repair efforts, the gangway and float sustained irreparable damage during storm events, and the gangway was closed in late 2024.
In June, 2025, the 80’ long gangway structure along with the damaged float was removed entirely to prevent the gangway from collapsing in the event that the float fails completely. A replacement float to support the gangway was manufactured with stronger frames with updated details to better withstand the wave conditions at South Cove Sailing Basin.
