PROJECT LOCATION
The South Cove Sailing Basin is located on the south side of the Berkeley Marina and encompasses the entire area approximately between the peninsula where the former H.S. Lordships building is situated and Brickyard Cove Park.
WHAT'S HAPPENING
The South Cove Sailing Basin Dredging Study proposes to conduct public engagement to better define dredging goals and needs of the area, determine recommended dredge depth, prepare dredging design drawings, conduct soil sampling and analysis to support regulatory permits and Dredged Material Management Office (DMMO) coordination, and to provide an accurate cost estimate to perform the work.
Soil sampling was completed and results were submitted to the DMMO in December 2025. The project team is waiting for determination on post-dredge requirements from the DMMO which will have a large impact on costs before presenting to the public. The next community meeting is estimated to be in July 2026 where the City will present findings.
