Picnic Area Rentals

Reserve a picnic area and bounce house site in a Berkeley park for your next birthday, barbecue, or community gathering.

Host your next event at a picnic area in one of Berkeley’s beautiful parks. 

Reserve a picnic area using our online recreation portal. Events must follow rental rules, including restrictions on amplified sound, alcohol, and charging admission. 

Picnic Areas And Bounce House Sites

Plan your next birthday party or small event by reserving a picnic area. Prices for reservations start at $30 for four hours; rates vary by location.  

If you would like to have a bounce house at your event, take these steps at least 14 days in advance: 

  1. Reserve a picnic area that allows bounce houses
  2. Reserve the corresponding bounce house site
  3. Contact an approved bounce house company

Only one bounce house is allowed per picnic area. Find detailed rules and availability on the online registration portal. 

Parks with bounce house sites: 

  • Cedar Rose Park: 3 picnic areas, 2 bounce house sites (capacity 40 people per area)
  • Codornices Park: 4 picnic areas, 1 bounce house site (capacity of one area at 20 people, one area at 50 people, one area at 70 people, and one area at 80 people)
  • James Kenney Park: 2 picnic areas, 1 bounce house site (capacity 45 people per area)
  • King School Park: 1 picnic area, 1 bounce house site (capacity 45 people)
  • San Pablo Park: 5 picnic areas, 5 bounce house sites (capacity 30 people per area)
  • Shorebird Park: 7 picnic areas, 1 covered trellis patio area, 2 bounce house sites (capacity of three areas at 30 people, three areas at 40 people, and two areas at 50 people)

Parks without bounce house sites: 

  • Aquatic Park: 3 picnic areas (capacity 50 people per area)
  • Berkeley Way Mini-Park: 2 picnic areas (capacity of one area at 20 people and one area at 40 people)
  • César Chávez Park: 3 picnic areas (capacity of two areas at 50 people and one area at 200 people)
  • Cragmont Rock Park: 2 picnic areas (capacity 45 people per area)
  • Glendale La Loma Park: 1 picnic area (capacity 40 people)
  • Greg Brown Park: 1 picnic area (capacity 40 people)
  • Grove Park: 1 picnic area (capacity 50 people)
  • John Hinkel Park: 2 picnic areas (capacity of one area at 45 people and one area at 50 people)
  • Live Oak Park: 2 picnic areas (capacity of one area at 70 people and one area at 80 people)
  • Strawberry Creek Park: 2 picnic areas (capacity 50 people per area)
  • Willard Park: Patio area (capacity 50 people)

Note: Other park picnic areas are on a first come, first-served basis.

Reserve online

Vendors: Must meet all Bounce House Vendor Program requirements. If vendor is not yet approved, they must apply and submit all required documents at least 15 business days before the reservation date.
