City block party is one way to celebrate National Night Out

In addition to neighborhood gatherings around Berkeley on National Night Out, you can also come to a City-hosted block party featuring activities for kids and food for all.

While getting to know your neighbors at events near you is the foundation of building a community, this Citywide gathering gives you a chance to meet Berkeleyans from many neighborhoods while also connecting with staff from City of Berkeley departments including Parks, Recreation & Waterfront, Police, and Fire.

Our block party will have giant inflatable jumpers, carnival games, food, and more.

Play games and meet neighbors in South Berkeley

This block party – co-hosted by McGee Avenue Baptist Church and the City of Berkeley Recreation Division’s Teen Program – features:

• Live performances – Spoken word poetry, singing, dancing, drumming
• Inflatables – Giant jumpers and rock-climbing wall (for ages 5 to 14)
• Face Painting- Kids can choose from fun designs like butterflies, animals, superheroes, flowers, and more
• Food – Hot dogs, burgers, vegetarian patty, chips, and non-alcoholic beverages
• Senior area – Shaded senior area with easy access to performances and food
• Inflatable Carnival games – Play classic carnival games like ring toss, milk bottle knockdown, and a Ferris wheel-themed toss
• Community booths – Berkeley Police Department, Heart 2 Heart, Healthy Black Families, Tobacco Prevention, Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention, the Rent Board, and more
• Connect with City teams – Meet staff from Police, Fire, Parks, Public Health, and City Council

Getting to the event

The event is about half a mile from Ashby BART. Plan your trip by bus using AC Transit's route planner. Or bike there on our bike boulevards. 

When parking, please don’t block driveways or double park.

This is one of many free events offered by Berkeley’s Parks, Recreation, and Waterfront Department.
