Join the City of Berkeley and the Friends of Ohlone Park for this volunteer tree planting opportunity at Ohlone Park. Stay afterwards for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the new playgrounds.
Tree planting
Free for all ages. Volunteer tree planting opportunity starting at 9:00am, between Milvia and Bonita, with Friends of Ohlone Park (FOOP).
We will connect with nature and community by having a tree planting at Ohlone Park. The City of Berkeley plans to plant 12 new trees (including coast live oak, California buckeye, and bigleaf maple) to add shade and habitat.
We plan to dig holes, play with tree roots, plant trees, and install support stakes. Feel free to come join with your moral support for growing the urban forest or play in the soil, planting trees with our Urban Forestry team. To join the planting, please wear closed-toed footwear and clothing ready to get a bit dirty. We will supply all tools.
Lunch will be provided.
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Free for all ages. Following the tree planting at 1:00pm, we will have a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate our brand new 2-5 and 5-12 playgrounds at Ohlone Park (between Milvia and Bonita). Learn more about the Ohlone Park Playground Replacement and Site Improvements project.
