National Night Out is Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025. To close a street, apply for a free block party permit by July 21. All events should register by Aug. 3.
The deadline to apply block party permit for a street closure on August 5 has now passed. However, you’re still welcome to register an off-street event or attend a gathering near you.
National Night Out is an annual event designed to strengthen our community by encouraging neighborhoods to build stronger relationships with each other and with their local Public Safety and City Officials.
The registration processes this year is again online with an interactive map to assist you in finding an event in your area. In an effort to not double book make sure to check your area for other events.

Submit block party permits by July 21
If you want to close your street for a National Night Out gathering, email the completed Block Party Permit Application to transportation@berkeleyca.gov by July 21.
We will let you know whether your application is approved by July 25. Upon approval, you’ll be able to pick up your street closure signs the following week from the City’s Corporation Yard in West Berkeley. These permits are free for National Night Out Events.
