Overview:
The City of Berkeley invites qualified contractors to submit bids for the Public Safety Building Jail Automation Upgrades.
Sealed Bids will be received at the General Services Division of the Finance Department of the City of Berkeley, 2180 Milvia Street, 3rd Floor, Berkeley, CA 94704 until 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 19, 2026.
Engineering Estimate: $600,000
Scope:
Upgrades to the low-voltage systems in the first-floor detention area, including modifications to cell and entry door controls, replacement of audio and video surveillance equipment, installation of HVAC systems, and conversion of a storage room into a climate-controlled telecommunications room, including ancillary work.

Low Voltage:
- Audio intercoms
- Video surveillance
- TV monitors
- Avigilon recorders
Room Conversion:
- Installation of pre-engineered non-structural chain link fence
- Privacy screen
- Server rack
Mechanical Upgrades:
- New heat pump, slab, & walking pad
- Condensate drain line
Electrical Upgrades:
- New circuit breakers
- Receptacles
Demolition of existing audio intercoms, video surveillance, and PLC console and replacement with new equipment.

Duration: 133 Calendar Days
Pre-Bid Site Visit: Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at 10:00 AM
