All residents of Thousand Oaks neighborhood can leave or return home

As of 4:15 pm Monday, Jan. 26, 2026, residents of the roughly one-block radius of Colusa and Tacoma avenues can now leave or return home. Berkeley Fire and Police coordinated to have hazardous materials safely removed without incident.

Register now for summer overnight camps for families, youth, adults

Berkeley residents can now register and can also apply for full scholarships. Non-residents can register starting January 23, 2026.

On January 13, the Berkeley Police Department, with the assistance of allied agencies in Richmond, Texas, arrested Lashay Durisseau in connection with a series of kidnappings and sexual assaults—including a number of cases from Alameda County.

For holiday waste, adapt to changed pickup schedule and properly dispose holiday tree

Thursday and Friday pickups – on Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 1 and 2 – will be pushed a day later. Cut, compost your holiday tree – or drop it off whole at Transfer Station.
