Aquatic Park Dreamland Playground Area Improvements

Located at the end of Bolivar Drive on the east side of Aquatic Park, the existing Dreamland Playground is a beloved children’s playground built in 2000. The Dreamland area also includes a parking lot, restrooms, picnic areas, and other amenities.  Stormwater infrastructure improvements are needed in this area, and with the increasing frequency and severity of maintenance and repairs needed to the playground, the entire area can be reimagined.

This project is planned jointly by the Parks, Recreation & Waterfront Department and the Public Works Department. It includes a new bioretention basin to improve stormwater run-off, and improvements to Dreamland Playground, the adjacent picnic areas, lawns, restroom, and parking lot. A preferred conceptual plan, viewable below under Documents, was developed based on extensive community and stakeholder input. The conceptual plan is true to the original spirit of Dreamland Playground, while proposing much needed upgrades for the enjoyment of future generations. The City is seeking funding to complete the design and construction of the playground and surrounding area improvements.
