- Streamlining the permit process for installing electric vehicle charging
- Requiring installation of electric vehicle charging in new buildings

City-owned Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
The City owns and operates public electric vehicle charging stations at the following locations:
- Center Street Parking Garage, 2025 Center St
- Oxford Garage, 2165 Kittredge St
- Telegraph-Channing Garage, 2450 Durant Ave
- Berkeley Marina, K-Dock, 201 University Ave
- West Branch Library, 1125 University Ave
Fees for charging at these stations vary depending on the time of day and the length of the charge.
You will pay a base rate of $1.50, plus $0.30 to $0.40 per kWh (pricing is higher during peak hours from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm). If you charge your vehicle for over 4 hours and 15 minutes, you will pay a $1 per minute overstay fee, up to 30 minutes (effective from 5:00 am – 10:00 pm daily).
