Bike Parking
The City of Berkeley installs public bicycle racks to make parking your bike safe and convenient. Berkeley residents, businesses, and property owners can submit a request for installation of a new bicycle rack.
You can park your bike safely at many convenient locations throughout the city. View our bicycle parking map to find existing bicycle rack locations. In addition to on-street bike parking, BART offers indoor bike stations at the Downtown Berkeley and Ashby stations. You can also park your bike in a bike locker at several locations in Berkeley.
Request a new bike rack
If you live, work, or own a business or property in Berkeley, you can request a new bicycle rack. Follow the steps below to request a rack.
- First check the bike parking map to see if your location has already been requested and is pending or has been rejected.
- If your location has no markers on the map, email Ryan P Murray at RPMurray@cityofberkeley.info or call 3-1-1 or (510) 981-7056.
City of Berkeley staff will review your request and decide whether it is feasible to install a rack at the requested location. If it is feasible, your request will be added to the installation list and installed as resources allow.
Request an on-street bike corral
The City installs on-street bike corrals in locations where there is high demand for bike parking and not enough space on the sidewalk. The bike corrals are placed at a car parking spot or at a red curb.
You can apply for a bike corral in front of your business or property by submitting an application to Ryan P Murray at RPMurray@cityofberkely.info or by calling 3-1-1 or (510) 981-7056.
