Get ready for the spring planting season and pick up free wood chips at a Berkeley park!
The Parks Division is hosting free wood chip pickup at four parks throughout Berkeley in an effort to bring community resources to areas not previously served. Parks staff will be on hand to assist community members with loading wood chips onto their own containers or personal vehicles. Scoop shovels will be available onsite to move chips.
We ask that community members limit themselves to no more than one (1) cubic yard of wood chips (around 4 wheelbarrow loads).
Pick up wood chips at one of the following parks:
- Aquatic Park (80 Bolivar Drive): Wood chips will be placed at the elbow at W. Bolivar Dr. Please approach the wood chip pile from the south parking lot (through the swing gate).
- Glendale La Loma Park (1310 Glendale Avenue): Wood chips will be placed in the parking lot at the top of the park at Glendale Ave.
- Great Stoneface Park (1930 Thousand Oaks Boulevard): Wood chips will be placed at the end of the walkway at Great Stoneface Path and Thousand Oaks Blvd. Please approach the woodchip pile from San Fernando Blvd.
- Willard Park (2730 Hillegass Avenue): Wood chips will be placed in the practice court and can accessed from Regent St.
Need compost, too? Head over to Marina Boulevard at the Berkeley Waterfront (near the Doubletree Hotel), where community members can pick up free compost anytime.
