Join us at the Berkeley Skate Park for a free, all-ages event on Sept 16. Enjoy live music, skating, food, a raffle, and honor Terrence McCrary Jr.'s memory while advocating against gun violence.

Bring your board, come with your crew, and drop in at Berkeley’s skate park to spend the afternoon in a way that Terrence McCrary Jr. would have loved: surfing the concrete on four wheels.
This skate jam event will have open skating across the skate park’s 18,000 square feet of concrete, including a large oval bowl, a fun box, and areas for beginners.
We’ll also have food, a raffle with prizes, live music by talented DJs, and an area for kids to create art.

History of this event
McCrary Jr. grew up riding at the Berkeley Skate Park, a central gathering spot for skaters. McCrary also mentored younger skaters as a Counselor-in-Training for the Recreation Division's Skate Camp.
After McCrary’s death in 2016, the City of Berkeley and the family organized the "T-Mack Skate Jam" to celebrate his impact, bring skaters together, and advocate against gun violence.
This skate event is just one of a variety organized throughout the year by the City's Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Department, which offers dozens of camps, classes, and other activities for people of all ages and socioeconomic challenges. Get a glimpse of the Recreation Division's offerings through our online registration portal.
If you are interested in volunteering at this event, call Tahir Dossett at (510) 981-6690 or email tdossett@berkeleyca.gov.
Whether you’re coming to carve in the bowl, grind on the ledges, or simply hang out to the music, we’d love to see you on September 16.
