Local Hazard Mitigation Plan
Learn about natural disasters in Berkeley and how we’re preventing their impacts ahead of time.
We want Berkeley to be ready for natural disasters. The Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP) has information about the disasters we may experience, what we’re doing to prevent their impacts, and how you might help.
There are two ways you can review the LHMP:
- Explore the Digital LHMP to see key hazard information, interactive maps, and associated mitigation actions.
- Download a PDF of the full document: 2019 Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP)
Plan Background
The LHMP is an appendix to the Disaster Preparedness and Safety Element of the City of Berkeley General Plan.
The Berkeley City Council adopted the 2019 LHMP on December 10, 2019. Adoption resolutions:
- Adopt the Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP)
- Amend the General Plan to Update Reference to the Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP)
The 2019 LHMP is an update to the 2014 LHMP.
