The project limits include the following:
- Martin Luther King Jr. Way/Prince St. intersection
- Adeline St./Russell St. intersection
- Woolsey St. (Adeline to Wheeler)
- Wheeler St. (Woolsey to Prince)
- Prince St. (Wheeler to Fulton)
- Fulton St. (Prince to Dwight)
WHAT'S HAPPENING
The Woolsey-Fulton Bike Boulevard Project and Shattuck-MLK Bus Stops Project are being constructed together as the South Berkeley Bikeway and Bus Stop Improvements Project. Refer to the South Berkeley Bus Stop Improvements Project for updated construction information.
Woolsey-Fulton Bike Boulevard Project improvements include:
- Class III bikeway (with Bicycle Boulevard pavement markings and signage) on Woolsey St. (Adeline to Wheeler), Wheeler St. (Woolsey to Prince), Prince St. (Wheeler to Fulton), and Fulton St. (Prince to Dwight).
- Pedestrian Hybrid beacons (PHBs) or Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) at five key intersections
- Sidewalk bulbouts at the MLK/Prince, Adeline/Woolsey, Shattuck/Woolsey, and Shattuck/Russell intersections
- Median refuge upgrades at the MLK/Prince and Adeline/Woolsey intersections
- Additional traffic calming via speed tables on Fulton St. and a traffic circle at the Prince/Wheeler intersection
FUNDING SOURCE
The Woolsey-Fulton Bike Boulevard Project is funded in part by a $2.059 million State of California Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities (AHSC) grant. The project comprises Sustainable Transportation Infrastructure (STI) to be implemented by the City as a condition of AHSC grant funding for private development projects at 2527 San Pablo Ave. and 2001 Ashby Ave.
Other project funding includes Alameda County Measure B and BB discretionary funds, as allocated by the Alameda County Transportation Commission.
