Temporary Dumpster Rental

Rent a dumpster for a one-time pick up of large amounts of waste.

2-6 cubic yard dumpsters

Residents and businesses can rent 2-6 cubic yard dumpsters for special events or other one-time needs.

To request a dumpster rental, call Customer Service at (510) 981-7270. Dumpsters must be placed on a public street and not on private property. To store the dumpster on the street, first obtain an Engineering Permit form for Temporary No Parking signs.

Short-term (4 consecutive days) trash and recycling service rates are listed below. Compost is 80% of the trash rate.

  • 2 cubic yards: $114.51
  • 3 cubic yards: $138.37
  • 4 cubic yards: $174.16
  • 5 cubic yards*: $198.01
  • 6 cubic yards*: $220.68
  • Additional days (per day): $27.00

*5 and 6 cubic yard dumpsters are not available

For dumpsters left over 4 days, there will be an additional charge of $27.00 per day for no more than 2 additional days. For bins left over 6 days, the service will be considered a "new" service, and a new full short-term rate will be charged in addition to the original and extra day charges.

6-30 cubic yard roll-off containers

Residents and businesses can rent a large 6-30 yard roll-off container for construction and debris waste or other one-time needs.

To request a roll-off rental, call Customer Service at (510) 981-7270. To store the roll-off on the street, first obtain an Engineering Permit form for Temporary No Parking signs.

The rates shown below are for a four-day rental. You can request up to two additional days for a charge of $17.50 per day, for a maximum rental period of six days.

Rates for roll-off container rental and service are below:

Container size  TrashCompost
6 Cubic yds (construction and demolition materials, dirt) *$641.75$513.40
12 Cubic yds$444.93$355.95
14 Cubic yds$520.08$416.07
16 Cubic yds$594.04$475.23
20 Cubic yds$673.96$539.17
30 Cubic yds$801.60$641.28

*The 6 cubic yard dirt box is the only size available for heavy material (e.g., dirt, rocks, or concrete), which is why it is more expensive than larger boxes.

For containers left over 4 days, there will be an additional charge of $22.40 per day for no more than 2 additional days. For containers left over 6 days the service will be considered a "new" service and a new full short-term rate shall be charged in addition to the original and extra day charges.
