Ride your bicycle to several Berkeley-based energizer stations for free giveaways. Explore our bike boulevards or protected bikeways for safer rides.
On May 15, ride your bike – or a rental from a bike share station – to work, on errands, to take kids to school, to see family or friends, or for simple fun.
You’ll be able to stop at sites across Berkeley with volunteers handing out coffee, snacks, and commemorative tote bags. These different sites might host live music, give out prizes, and even do a bike check-up and minimal repair.
Plan your trip using our bike boulevards, calmed streets stretching across Berkeley that are engineered to discourage cut-through vehicle traffic and prioritize through-traffic by bicycle.
In doing so, you’ll be taking part in Bike to Wherever Day, a regional celebration of a sustainable mode of travel open to people of all ages and incomes. Come join us!

making biking in Berkeley safer and more accessible
The City of Berkeley’s Public Works Department maintains and improves city streets to model a bicycle-friendly city, as outlined in the Berkeley Bicycle Plan.
The City is helping expand the number of bike share stations, making it easier to take quick one-way trips without needing to worry about maintenance or theft. Give input online by May 21 or in person on May 14 on new station locations.
This year, the City is also constructing bike boulevards on Mabel and Bonar Streets from Parker to Addison, as well as on Parker Street from Mabel to Ninth Street.
The City is also planning and designing other bikeways throughout Berkeley, including the Telegraph Avenue Multimodal Corridor Project, the Woolsey-Fulton Bicycle Boulevard Project, and the Ohlone Greenway Safety Improvements Project.
Get on your bike on May 15 and come join us!
