We're looking for a Senior Health Management Analyst, a Supervising Public Health Nurse, a Senior Service Assistant, and others who reflect a portion of the breadth of services we offer to the Berkeley community.

In the Senior Health Management Analyst role, you'll analyze health and human services data to inform reports and City programs. As a trusted advisor to the team, you will lead all aspects of the analyses, use findings to make recommendations to management, and supervise support staff in the vital statistics unit.

As a Supervising Public Health Nurse, you’d support our mission to achieve health equity and optimal health for all people in Berkeley. In addition to staff supervision and program management, you would perform professional nursing work within the Family Support Services Unit or the Communicable Disease Prevention and Control Unit.

If you choose the path of the Senior Service Assistant, you'll perform community outreach to older adults and assist with senior center programs and activities. You’ll join a team dedicated to promoting a dignified, healthful quality of life for older adults in Berkeley.

The City of Berkeley is distinguished by its diversity, community engagement, and activism. Home to the University of California’s flagship campus, Berkeley’s population is highly educated, diverse, and engaged. The City lies on the east shore of the San Francisco Bay and is sheltered by rolling hills on its eastern border. Berkeley spans 10 square miles with 118,000 residents.

Our climate is mild year-round, with cool summers. An outdoor focus is demonstrated with acres of open space, parks, and an abundance of bike lanes on City streets. Public transportation is well developed and reliable, with three Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) stations in Berkeley. The City of Berkeley lies in Alameda County and operates under a Council-Manager form of government. The City is divided into eight districts,  each electing one representative to the City Council. The eight-member City Council serves four-year terms, and a mayor is elected at large – also on a four-year term.

The City Council appoints a City Manager, who serves as the Chief Executive of the City. Berkeley provides a comprehensive range of municipal services to its population, many of which are not typically provided by cities.

The City of Berkeley’s Health, Housing, and Community Services Department provides public, mental, and environmental health services. The City also offers its own residential and commercial solid waste collection, recycling, and disposal service. The City’s Parks, Recreation, and Waterfront Department offers a number of summer camps and operates a 1,000-berth marina.
