Make a Commendation or Complaint

Make a commendation for a police officer to show your appreciation for their work, or file a complaint about an officer’s misconduct.

Contact the Police Department to make a commendation

Make a commendation for a police officer who has provided excellent customer service by contacting the Police Department by phone, email, mail, or in person.

Commendations for any member of the City of Berkeley Police Department are forwarded to the Chief of Police and are formally documented with the employee's direct supervisor and in his/her personnel file when appropriate.

Contact the Department’s Internal Affairs Bureau to make a complaint

File a complaint about a police officer by phone, email, mail, or in person.

Fill out a complaint form to formally file your complaint with Internal Affairs. Internal Affairs will investigate your complaint and make a recommendation to the police chief regarding discipline for the officer.
