PROJECT LOCATION
Intersection of Adeline Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way near the Berkeley-Oakland border
WHAT'S HAPPENING
This is a Measure T1 Phase 2 project.
The South Adeline Landscaping Improvements and Dog Park Project introduced landscaping improvements to beautify and activate this area of South Berkeley. The improvements are located along Adeline Street at the gateway to the City of Berkeley near the border with Oakland. Based on community input, the project included a new dog park along the east side of the existing BART structure.
A Miyawaki Forest was planted at intersection of Adeline Street and Stanford Ave. A Miyawaki Forest is a dense planting of native trees and shrubs to create increased biodiversity and bird refuge in an urban environment. It was planted and will be maintained with help from community volunteers. Decorative fencing throughout the corridor unifies the area aesthetically.
Construction was completed in June 2026. Improvements included:
- Native pollinator-friendly planting
- Miyawaki Forest planting
- New dog park
- New irrigation
- Benches
- Drinking fountain
- Decorative fencing
- Decorative boulders
