Summer Playground Programs
At Berkeley’s Summer Playground Programs, children ages 5-12 can enjoy supervised time outdoors at one of Berkeley’s parks.
Sign your child up for a Summer Playground Program to give them some summertime playground fun. Children ages 5-12 will enjoy a variety of activities such as games, arts and crafts, sports, swimming, and making new friends, all while being supervised by trained City of Berkeley staff.
Dates: June 6 - July 29
No program June 20 and July 4
Playground Programs are offered at multiple locations in Berkeley:
Grove Park
Days: Monday – Friday, 10:00 am – 4:00pm
Fees (res/non): $10 / $20 per 2-week session
Meals not included
Longfellow Middle School
Days: Monday – Friday, 11:00 am – 5:00pm
Fees (res/non): $10 / $20 per 2-week session
Meals not included
Malcolm X Elementary School
Days: Monday – Friday, 11:00 am – 5:00pm
Fees (res/non): $10 / $20 per 2-week session
Meals not included
Strawberry Creek Park
Days: Monday – Friday, 11:00 am – 5:00 pm
Fees (res/non): $5 / $10 per week
Snack and lunch provided by Summer Lunch Program.
Low-income families have priority registration
Low-income families have priority to register before registration opens up to the general public.
To apply for priority registration:
- Complete the Playground Program Application Form
- Complete one form for every two children
- Application Form includes low-income affidavit
- Provide Proof of Residency (Utility Bill or Diver’s License/Government ID)
- Submit application form and documents to Ginsi Bryant to gbryant@cityofberkeley.info.
- Once approved, you will be given access to register your child(ren) online. Spaces are limited. You must complete registration online and pay for sessions in order to secure spot in program.
