Current digital accessibility status
The City of Berkeley’s goal is to provide digital content that meets or exceeds the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.
Steps the City has taken to comply with WCAG include:
- Established staff task force to increase accessibility awareness and ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA across departments.
- Training on accessibility principles for staff who update content on the web.
- Alt text required for image uploads.
- Captions required for all videos.
- Regular review of updated content to ensure compliance with WCAG, including meaningful link text, appropriate use of headings and lists, use of plain language, and more.
